The Brands All The Cool Girls Are Wearing Right Now
The older I get, the less interested I become in trends.
Not because they aren’t fun. But once I started to see how fleeting they are, they started to lose their appeal to me, honestly. And I haven't looked back since.
Thank god, because the style fascinations that since then have landed in my head, heart and shopping cart for that matter, have given me so much joy. And much more long lasting I must say. What truely gets me excited now, is spotting actual (actual!) quality. The real durable kind that you get to enjoy time after time, year after year.
These are the items I cherish the most, and reach for without styling effort. I take pride in finding, keeping and wearing them. I know they are made with love and care and that is the energy I get from my beloved items - and give in return.
So, in the name of good journalism: I do my best to find the best of the best brands and designers that create the best of the best in terms of quality and cool taste. Here's the shortlist to shop like the coolest girls you know.
The Row
I have reached a point in my life where The Row feels less like a brand and more like a recurring life event.
The one where I get obsessed with one of their items and try to convince myself I don't need it. Then it turns out I do.
Every few months I'll say I am done.
Then I see another bag (these are mostly the ones that get my attention).
Or another skirt.
Or another pair of sandals. Lately, I am endlessly intrigued by their flip flops. They have the perfect blend of comfortable in the most chic way. And one thing you must know about me, is that I love to live in flip flops during the warmer months of the year. I do not take them off (much). Only for shoes equally as giving in terms of good vibes, which is mostly good flats or strappy sandals.
Point being, that suddenly I am back where I started.
The funny thing about The Row is that once you see how good it is, you can't unsee it. And you go back for more, speaking from experience here. But I'm not complaining (just admiring), because this literally is the golden standard of quality.
Currently shopping: sharing with you my latest The Row fascinations below.
Toteme
This one just has cool scandi vibes and can do no wrong. Any item I own from them, I end up wearing all the time. Their twisted seam jeans have not left my side actually. And more then happily so. Because this makes getting dressed like a breeze. I have these amazing items to fall back on, that I feel my best in and create all my outfits because they are wardrobe investment pieces but with a cool twist. Without trying to have a cool twist.
You know when you save something and later realise you’ve saved essentially the same outfit five different times?
That keeps happening.
The ones I'm investing in right now:
Dôen
All the New York girls I follow for the best style inspo and who normally dress very understated chic, are spotted in DÔEN.
It's for all the The Row, Khaite and Tôteme girls who want to dress romantic and feminine as well, but stay equally chic.
I personally love Dôen and I love dressing feminine, flowy dresses.
A cotton dress.
Flat sandals.
A tote.
A coffee.
Suddenly the whole thing feels effortless rather than overly done.
Dôen does that easy breezy like no other, but in a vintage heirloom kind of way. Also, their fabrics are amazing. Big fan of everything they do and touch.
What I'm going for:
TWP
Every time someone asks me for a white shirt recommendation, I end up sending a TWP link. Actually I sent a lot of other TWP recommendations as well.
They make the best shirts and somehow manage to make an oversized shirt look relaxed without looking sloppy and polished without looking boring. But what I love most, is that they pair this with long rainboots. I love this preppy chic New York vibe. TWP feels like Jamie Haller's dressed up sister, same vibe, bit more prep but in a laid back way.
The one's on my list:
Jamie Haller
The laid back little sister of TWP. Where TWP is NYC energy, Jamie Haller is all California. Both know exactly what kind of pieces women want to wear. And make them really well.
I turn to Jamie Haller for pieces that just always hit right. They make the perfect version of specific pieces, like a vintage blazer inspired by men's. Also, they are known for their impeccable loafers which always sell out in an instant.
The items I love atm:
Khaite
If you are a lover of The Row and Tôteme, chances are you have Khaite at the top of your list as well. It's the absolute blueprint brand for the coolest wardrobes I know.
It only takes a second to notice the eye for detail and quality that goes in these pieces. Having a Khaite piece means having the best of the best to wear at all time. Which is why I love shopping there so much. Their dresses are giving 'best dressed in cool NYC gallery vibes'. And naturally, that's what I want.
