What's earning a place in my fall winter wardrobe
The blazer and maxi skirt in this photo are almost the same shade of charcoal. I love how far the skirt goes, and then the fur collar makes the whole thing a bit much. Good. I feel comfortable in it, but I also feel properly dressed. I don't want winter to mean giving up that little bit of drama.
I've been thinking about that outfit while I work out what belongs in my wardrobe this fall and winter. I'm getting better at knowing which pieces I feel good in, and at leaving the others alone. I want good materials and clothes I can move around in. I'm fussy about coats, and I keep going back to the same brands. In winter I need to be able to add a layer without ruining the outfit. I want the blazer with jeans, the long skirt under a big coat. If a new piece only works one way, I probably don't need it.

very well layered
That black top, the jeans and the belt are how I'd wear the idea from my photo on an ordinary day. The Aflalo Monroe top sits close to the body; I'd wear it with the looser Khaite Connor jeans. I keep coming back to the big buckle on the Nili Lotan Wayne belt. It breaks up all that black, which is exactly why I want it.
Then there's the Nour Hammour Dorian. I want that big coat over the narrow top, with Jamie Haller's black Seamed Stiletto boots beneath the jeans. The Row Small E/W India bag is the one I'd carry with the whole thing. I'd wear those jeans with my blazer too. The Dorian could go straight over the long skirt from the first photo.
And the little brown Mémoire Devon leather notebook down in the corner belongs with this look.

country chic meets Kate
In the second collage I'm thinking about a different kind of cold day. The pale Baeza jacket over Róhe's off-white wool-cashmere turtleneck, with black Lauren Crop Flare trousers underneath. I want the Métier Incognito 42 in café brown here. One more black bag would make it too tidy. The Après Ski shearling flats are probably what I'd reach for first.
I know the Mémoire Kensington luggage tag and Chelsea picture frame aren't clothes. I wanted them here anyway. I've been saving little brown leather objects alongside the coats and shoes. The picture frame is completely unnecessary to a wardrobe collage, which may be why I like it there. If I take it out, I miss it.
